Emil Otto expands its range of disinfectants

At the beginning of April, Emil Otto GmbH presented its hand and surface disinfectants for the first time, which were allowed to be marketed due to changes in guidelines from the Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (BAuA). Since then, the new product division has developed into a good sales mainstay. For this reason, Emil Otto is expanding the range and is now introducing further disinfectants for surface and hand cleaning.

Some of the new disinfectants are based on ethanol or ethanol-isopropyl alcohol. "The product development is based on different recommendations from the BAuA and the WHO. The BAuA recommends disinfectants based on isopropyl alcohol, while the WHO favors agents based on ethanol or ethanol-isopropyl alcohol," explains Markus Geßner, Head of Marketing and Sales at Emil Otto GmbH. Both product groups have a very good disinfecting effect. However, the WHO recommends products containing ethanol, as ethanol is much cheaper and widely used internationally.

The disinfectants based on ethanol or ethanol-isopropyl alcohol are the hand disinfectants EO-HDC-002 and 003, or EO-HDC-004. Furthermore, the surface disinfectant EO-EXO-CV2 is also ethanol-based. The disinfectant for surface cleaning EO-EXO-VC3, on the other hand, is based on ethanol-isopropyl alcohol. "We can therefore offer our customers disinfectants that are less dependent on the price of alcohol on the global market and on supply options. As we don't know how the coronavirus crisis will develop and whether further waves of the pandemic are to be expected, it is important to develop products that are free from price increases and speculation and remain available in large volumes," says Geßner.

Like the disinfectants EO-HDC-001 and EO-EXO-CV, both based on isopropyl alcohol, the new products are also supplied to all public health facilities such as hospitals, doctors' surgeries, health centers, but also to other care facilities and public care facilities such as town halls, health authorities, etc. at special conditions.
