Emil Otto introduces new alcohol-based selective flux

At productronica 2021, Emil Otto GmbH will not only be presenting the broadest flux portfolio on the market, but also several new products - including the latest generation of alcohol-based flux, EO-B-016.

"Our EO-B-016 is a MULTI-FLUX flux and was specially developed for selective soldering. However, it is also ideally suited for use in wave and manual soldering processes, as well as for dip soldering and strand tinning. It can be applied using all standard application methods except foaming. The solids content is 5 wt.-%," explains Markus Geßner, Marketing and Sales Manager at Emil Otto GmbH. Geßner goes on to explain that EO-B-016 has very good soldering properties, particularly in terms of penetration, wetting and cleanliness. Very good soldering results can also be achieved with the EO-B-016 on overaged or overlaid PCBs and components. The process window of the flux is very wide, with high thermal stability and good process activity over a long time interval. "The residue behavior is also very good. The printed circuit boards are virtually residue-free after the soldering process, despite a higher solids content," adds Geßner.

EO-B-016 is a high-performance no-clean flux based on alcohol with a di-carboxylic acid activator complex and synthetic resin. Very good soldering results were achieved in internal in-house tests (SIR test). The flux is already available before productronica and is supplied in canisters of 5 and 20 liters. Other containers are also available on request. Emil Otto will be presenting this flux innovation and other products from its broad product portfolio at the joint stand of Emil Otto, Feinhütte Halsbrücke and Eutect at productronica 2021, Hall A4, Stand 315.
