EO-Y-003 new alcohol/water-based flux from Emil Otto

Following the introduction of the new alcohol and water-based fluxes, the German flux manufacturer is also launching a new hybrid flux.

"The EO-Y-003 flux is a hybrid flux with an alcohol content of less than 10%. It is therefore very close to a water-based flux, with very good soldering results and a very clean circuit board," explains Markus Geßner, Marketing and Sales Manager at Emil Otto GmbH.

EO-Y-003 fulfills almost all the positive properties of water-based fluxes. It is inexpensive, low in consumption and easy to manage in terms of transportation, storage and handling. In contrast to purely water-based fluxes, it can also be transported and stored very well in winter due to its low alcohol content, as it is frost-proof.

EO-Y-003 has a high solids content of 3.3%. It was developed for use in wave and selective soldering and therefore has a very wide range of applications. The soldering properties are very good, especially in terms of penetration and wetting of the circuit board. The process window is very wide, with high thermal stability. In practice, it has been shown that when used properly, washing of PCBs soldered with this flux can usually be dispensed with. The printed circuit boards are visually clean.

The EO-Y-003 is now available in standard packaging units.

"Green Line" marketed. The application is carried out by spray fluxing. All Green Line fluxes can be used on the soldering systems known on the market. This means that all customers can easily switch to ecological, water-based fluxes. "We have a number of customers who have successfully made the switch. For example, a leading EMS company for the automotive sector has been using our water-based fluxes for more than 10 years," reports Geßner.
