Treatment of copper, all copper alloys and nickel after heat treatment
Ready-to-use pickling products and weld seam cleaning agents
ZUNDEX products are used to treat metal surfaces after exposure to heat. They are free of hydrochloric, sulphuric and nitric acid. They contain no hydrofluoric acid and no hydrofluoric acid salts. Special wetting agent additives ensure a fast and uniform reaction on the surfaces to be treated. When using ZUNDEX products, a "somewhat slower" reaction is sometimes observed than when using pickling mixtures of more aggressive and therefore often highly toxic mineral acids. However, this apparent disadvantage is at least compensated for by the advantages of the milder ZUNDEX pickling agents, which do not develop free chlorine or nitrous gases.
However, as ZUNDEX products are not free from corrosive substances, it is always recommended for safety reasons to wear gloves and safety goggles when using these pickling agents.
Processing instructions:
If the surfaces to be treated are not only discolored due to oxidation, but also have other contaminants (e.g. only partially burnt oil or resin residues, coarse welding slag, heavy dirt), these must first be removed mechanically. The appropriate ZUNDEX type is then applied using a brush or similar method. ZUNDEX paste is suitable for treating surfaces that are already mounted, inclined, vertical or "overhead". If the oxide layers are chemically transformed and can be removed, they can be removed by brushing or wiping. If the contamination is particularly heavy, repeat the treatment with ZUNDEX. After each use of ZUNDEX, it is necessary to rinse or wash with clear water. Care must be taken to ensure that the resulting transformation products and all residues of ZUNDEX are removed from the treated surfaces after the oxide solution has been dissolved.
