Questions & Answers

Greasy residues can stick together and harden under UV light. Emil Otto's cleaning agents leave no such residues and are gentle on the equipment, the materials used, and electronic components.

Soldering nitinol is technically challenging because an extremely stable layer of titanium oxide forms immediately upon contact with air. This layer prevents the solder from reliably wetting the surface. Conventional fluxes are usually unable to effectively remove this oxide layer or leave behind critical residues, which significantly limits process reliability.

ZINNIN GREEN I Sn100 is lead-free, zinc-free, and complies with the WEEE/RoHS directives. The paste also features a labeling-free formulation and is not classified as a hazardous material. Flux residues are visible under UV light and can be removed with deionized water if necessary. These properties support controlled and efficient application in piping construction.

A suitable flux must selectively remove the titanium oxide layer, activate surfaces that are difficult to wet, and at the same time minimize corrosive residues. In addition, high process stability, low-residue processing, and suitability for automated manufacturing processes are crucial. Ideally, it should be zinc- and halide-free, non-flammable, and VOC-free.

Specially developed cleaning agents are suitable for photovoltaic modules; they remove dirt without damaging the glass surface or the modules’ coatings. Professional cleaners, such as Emil Otto’s photovoltaic cleaning products, are frequently used in the solar industry.

In addition to protecting against rust and moisture, VO anti-rust oil can lubricate moving parts and protect them from wear. This makes it particularly suitable for providing seasonal protection for machinery and components during extended periods of damp weather.

SAC alloys have higher surface tension, which makes it more difficult for trapped gases to escape from the solder. In addition, the higher process temperatures can promote gas formation from the flux, the printed circuit board, and the components. The wetting properties of SAC solders also play a role.

Before soldering, the surfaces to be joined should be thoroughly cleaned of oxides, dirt, and grease—for example, with a wire brush. Next, a suitable flux is applied. This prevents oxidation during heating and helps ensure that the solder evenly coats the joint.

Cleaning agents for agri-photovoltaic systems must reliably remove contaminants while taking into account the specific use of agricultural land. Emil Otto offers water-based and highly biodegradable cleaning agents designed specifically for solar farms.
